The play:
Besides being a VFX artist, I like to act. We are currently working on a play about the second world war. It is a very special play since the audience won’t sitting on the same place. The play is split into three parts; before the war, during the war and after the war. The audience will experience the scenes on different ways, depending on the part.
You can find more about this play here. (mtgsintpieter.nl/oorlogsverenigt)
Mies is finally able to marry her Ad, but then war breaks out. The beautiful white dress goes in the closet and they get married in appropriate black. Medemblik is entering a dark period in which, whether willingly or unwillingly, guests are being accommodated in the city. First Dutch veterans and Zeelanders, then the German soldiers follow, later refugees from Den Oever, children and food seekers from the Randstad and of course there are a number of people in hiding who have to be given a place. This produces many stories, a number of which are strung together in the performance of Theater Group St. Pieter with Harmonie Crescendo, which interweaves these into one whole with music written especially for them.
The women Trudy, Beppie and Corrie take you on a tour of the War Museum. You see up close how Mies has to withdraw further and further, how local mayors have to decide how long they will remain in office, and how everyone has to move again and again because their spaces are made available to the occupying forces. A war fragments a society, but people unite in the urge to survive.
